Before becoming the NFL's first great kicking specialist, Chiefs kicker Jan Stenerud was a Norwegian at Montana State on a ski jumping scholarship. Goofing around the field one day, a coach saw him kick something and said, get that guy a uniform. He nailed a 59-yarder before he knew the rules. Stenerud ended up playing 19 years in the NFL.
Maybe he only played three seasons as a sub, but this Eagle legend has to be the only adult ever to transition from the stands to the uniform. An Eagles season ticket holder for 10 years, at 30 years old he somehow made the Eagles roster as a walk-on and embodied fan dreams as an honest-to-goodness Philadelphia Eagle. (Vince is also in the Hall of Fame...of Interboro High School. Delco pride!)
