John Smith earns Grid 3 honors.

John Smith was an Englishman who improbably became the Patriots kicker in the 70s. The first NFL game he ever saw - he played in! He led the league in scoring a couple times and made the Pro Bowl, but he's best remembered as the guy in the "snowplow game." In a December 1982 blizzard, the Dolphins and Patriots were scoreless nearing the finish. During a timeout, a snowplow operator drove onto the field and cleared a space for Smith to get a clean kick. The Dolphins were outraged, but the refs didn't say anything. Smith made the kick for an infamous 3-0 victory.
